Executive Coaching

Coaching for Senior Internal Audit Leaders

For senior internal audit professionals, the next step is rarely about technical expertise alone. It is about strengthening influence, sharpening strategic presence, and navigating career decisions with clarity and confidence.

A tailored, strategic approach

Each coaching engagement begins with a clear focus. The client is asked to identify up to three priorities, set in order of importance, so that the work remains tightly aligned to longer-term career objectives.

Those objectives might relate to progression into a more senior role, strengthening executive presence, handling complex stakeholder relationships, or building confidence in high-impact situations. The emphasis is always on practical progress and measurable value.

A tailored coaching plan is then created to support those priorities and keep the process focused, relevant, and commercially worthwhile.

Format and delivery

Coaching is delivered primarily remotely by video, offering flexibility and ease of access for busy professionals. Where appropriate, sessions can also be delivered in person.

Session lengths are commonly offered at 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with sessions taking place fortnightly or monthly depending on the nature of the objectives and the pace of development. All arrangements are designed around the client's schedule and preferences.

What the coaching delivers

The coaching experience is designed to be focused, practical and high value. Clients have a confidential space to think strategically, test ideas and gain clarity on complex career and leadership challenges.

  • Stronger executive presence and stakeholder confidence
  • Clearer direction on progression and role aspirations
  • Improved handling of high-level conversations and decisions
  • Greater focus on priorities that support long-term career growth

The aim is to help senior audit professionals move forward with greater precision, confidence and impact.

Getting started

The process begins with an initial conversation to explore current circumstances, development needs and the right coaching format. Once objectives are agreed, a tailored programme is confirmed and sessions are scheduled.

This approach ensures the coaching is purposeful from the outset and aligned to what will create the greatest value.

Structured, outcome-focused, senior-led

Three stages, designed so that every session delivers practical progress against your stated objectives.

1. Initial conversation

A no-obligation discussion to understand your current circumstances, career objectives and development priorities. This shapes the format, frequency and focus of the coaching engagement before anything is confirmed.

2. Tailored coaching plan

Based on up to three agreed priorities, ranked in order of importance, a coaching plan is developed that keeps every session aligned to your longer-term objectives. The plan is practical, specific and reviewed as you progress.

3. Ongoing sessions

Sessions run at 30, 45 or 60 minutes, fortnightly or monthly, by video or in person. Each session is confidential, focused and designed to create momentum against your agreed priorities rather than simply reflect on challenges.

4. Review and progression

Progress against objectives is reviewed periodically throughout the engagement. The coaching plan is adjusted as priorities evolve, ensuring the work remains relevant and delivering real value at every stage.

25 years in senior financial services audit. Still doing the work.

This coaching is led by Kyle McMullan, founder of the audit hub. Kyle has spent 25 years in senior financial services audit roles, including audit leadership positions, regulatory remediation programmes and board-level advisory work across UK financial services.

The coaching draws directly on that experience. It is not generic leadership development. It reflects the specific pressures, stakeholder dynamics and career decisions that senior audit and risk professionals actually face, and it is delivered by someone who has navigated them.

Kyle also supports a community of over 20,000 audit professionals through LinkedIn and the audit hub's Insights section. Coaching clients benefit from that network and from practical guidance grounded in direct, current experience of the profession.
